Ivan Melillo’s journey spans musical training, Choro groups, daily composition, recording and the creation of independent projects.
Ivan, musician
Ivan began playing guitar at 13. He graduated from USC and found a new center of work in the transverse flute and Choro. Between 2009 and 2010, he studied Brazilian Popular Music/Jazz and Flute/Choro at the Conservatório de Tatuí.
In São Paulo, he joined and created ensembles including Choro Fino, Gente do Centro, Regional do Babeche, Pauliceia Samba & Choro, Choro Marginal, Cello Choro and Choristas da Capital. With Choro Marginal, he recorded three albums between 2014 and 2018 and sold more than 10,000 copies independently.

Milestones
A journey in motion.
Completes a bachelor’s degree in guitar at Universidade do Sagrado Coração (USC).
Studies Brazilian Popular Music/Jazz and Flute/Choro at the Conservatório de Tatuí.
Creates the Música Instrumental de Bauru project through the municipal culture incentive law.
Choro Fino is selected by Mapa Cultural Paulista for an album of composers from São Paulo state.
Records three albums with Choro Marginal, two of them produced entirely by Ivan.
Joins the Emesp Choro Group under the direction of Edmilson Capeluppi.
Wins the Rádio MEC Music Festival with La Ciba, no te quiero más.
Writes one composition every day and brings all 366 pieces together in the Crônicas Musicais yearbook.
Builds Atotô Studio with a structure based on Linux and open-source tools.

The work continues beyond the stage.
Ivan works as a composer, arranger, copyist and music producer. His audio and production setup uses Linux and open-source tools — a technical choice present in the studio, session organization and score preparation.
